(Click panel for Tipping) or !gfm in chat! I was on my way to work around 3:30am. I was working a warehouse job where I was newly promoted to a managerial position. Just off my street, a Jeep Grand Cherokee T-boned my 2017 Kia Optima on the drivers side. One can expect that such a tank of a truck tore deep into my Kia, and to be perfectly honest, I have very few visual memories of the scene of the accident; blood loss and shock brought on a very serious daze, but what I do remember most vividly was that I was holding my intestines in my arms. And then it was just black. The paramedics told me I was very calm and appreciative after they brought me back from being actually dead. They said I couldn’t stop thanking them and telling them how much I loved them, likely because I had been given Adrenalin shots or something stimulating like that, and that’s just what I do. And when I closed my eyes again, the story becomes external, one I wasn’t there to observe to tell; What happened on the operating table when the doctors did everything they needed to do to save my life. I don’t remember being awake again until New Year’s Eve, watching the ball drop for the oncoming 2018. From there it was months - no - years of recovering. It’s 4 years later, and I’m still - waiting for more repair internally to recover. The toll of the accident resulted in multiple surgeries, wound vacs, chronic hernias, sepsis, and other certainly life debilitating conditions. The door of the Kia Optima had cut so deep into my lower torso there was more to repair than intact. It’s been a rough adjustment as a disabled person. Work had the audacity to ask if I was returning mere months after my near fatal car accident. No more warehouse job, and no use of the 10 years of acquired experience I’d worked on since I was a teenager. In the early stages of recovery I wasn’t able to eat, let alone work a job. My life was recovery, and finding any and every reason not just give up on everything. I did my best to dive into my passions with art, and video games, so that’s when I decided to start streaming! I joined a team, got a channel together, a couple pieces of equipment, and here we are! Audiokat was created. HERNIA REPAIR SURGERY RECOVERY As mentioned, hernia’s are something that has become a chronic issue since the accident. Today, I have the worst one I’ve ever had, one of the worst ones a lot of surgeons have ever seen! It’s the size of an average volley ball or cantaloupe, and it’s caused my left hip to completely fracture, and is now incredibly misshapen. I’ve talked to 4 “second opinions” that haven’t taken on or finished my hernia repair in the span of 4 years. Finally I have found a surgeon who is taking on my case, with 3 other partnering surgeons! This 3 man job has the hopes of really improving my health, especially when it comes to mobility and stability! My surgery date is still to be determined, the surgeons have given me the task of losing 20 pounds to make the surgery a little safer for my body, and once I’ve accomplished that more can be planned out. They’ve estimated with planning and preparation between the three of them they should be ready for surgery in about 6 months. With that time I’ve decided to set some goals both financial and physical to accomplish and afford everything that is to come. From medical expenses and rent for the months of recovery, to losing the 20 pounds pre op, and building muscle to help improve my stamina and energy levels, even despite the disability. I’m hoping to use twitch as one of many avenues to help support my financial needs to come and ensure I can provide for my small family.
