A 2D side-scrolling multiplayer racing/physics-based RPG planned for the PC and maybe Android in the future. Server/client software separate, you can run a server and have your friends join, sort of like Terraria used to be. -Setting- The game takes place in a retro-80s sci-fi fantasy world populated with randomly generated towns and wonky/eccentric/radical characters. A massive randomly generated overworld will contain a major city and 20-30 towns. Cities and towns have buildings to upgrade your car, customize it, purchase fuel, provide server-wide effects, and many other things. A story line will be baked into the world non-randomly. Dotted around the world will be random people who want to race or give you a job to do. These characters are randomly generated (name and appearance) and award unlocks/car parts/cars/cash/etc. -Gameplay- The overworld is one huge road with smoothly transitioning biomes that encourages exploration. Each town has teleporters so you can get to your friends easier. Racing is instanced and multiple bots/players can join them based on if it's a story race, random NPC race, or a challenge from another player. In a race, skill comes from being able to time your abilities well and move the vehicle to the curves of the road. The sharper of an angle you hit the road the slower your impact will make you. While the appearance of your vehicle doesn't make any gameplay changes per-say, there is a separate leveling, stats, equipment and inventory system to lend to the RPG aspect. Any cosmetic unlocks and equipment are strictly cosmetic. A major element to the core gameplay of el Gasimo is the ability system. There will be many abilities put into the game that will all be approximately equal in power. You may choose up to three of these abilities at a time and can be swapped out outside of races. You will be able to charge up your boost and ability meters via pickups placed in the race, similar to Mario Kart.
