Q: What game is this? A: This is a tabletop RPG using a ruleset called GURPS. Compared to Dungeons & Dragons, GURPS is much more brutal and combat is lethal. It shares much more in common with AD&D or OSR games. It fosters non-combat, crafty solutions to problems, and the systems for doing that are far more robust than d20. Additionally, there are no levels. XP is spent directly on any skill or ability the players would like to purchase, as long as there's a narrative reason they should be able to do that. Almost all actions are done by rolling 3d6 rather than a d20, which leads to much more consistent skill statistics. Lower rolls are better; high rolls are a failure. Q: What's the setting? The world is a homebrew setting called Driftworld.. It takes place 22,000 years after a cataclysm destroyed and reformed the world. It is a fantasty setting, but focuses more on steampunk, biological cyberpunk, and cosmic horror. Vast, planet-sized landmasses float in an endless sea of ether. Gods and nations cooperate, fighting for control of power and resources. Q: Who is playing? A bunch of homeless drifters I found wandering the subway.
