David Petersen was born in 1977 in Flint, MI. His artistic career soon followed. A steady diet of cartoons, comics, and tree climbing fed his imagination and is what still inspires his work today. David attended Mott Community College and received a BFA in Printmaking from Eastern Michigan University in 2000. He is the creator of the New York Times Bestselling and critically acclaimed Graphic Novel series Mouse Guard. Mouse Guard has been published in 17 languages and David is excited to be working on projects he dearly loves. David has recently finished a newly illustrated version of Kenneth Grahame’s beloved Wind in the Willows. David was the 2007 Russ Manning Award recipient for Most Promising Newcomer. David has since gone on to win three Eisner Awards and two Harvey’s for his continued work on the Mouse Guard series. In 2016 the Mouse Guard series was optioned by 20th Century Fox for feature film adaptation. David and his wife Julia reside in Michigan with their Anatolian Shepherds “Bronwyn and Coco”.
