**"You are too big to be a slug, just get lost."** This is my main speedgame, I started getting good in winter 2012 / 2013. Over summer 2013 is when I began focusing on speedrunning. I think it's a pretty great speedrun, fast paced and challenging with basically no luck involved thanks to the robust RNG manipulation that is possible. For details on that I wrote a [guide](http://pastebin.com/wbw8wUji). **FAQ** **Q:** What is your goal? **A:** 34:45, I may go for 34:30 after that. **Q:** What time is possible in this route? **A:** Around 34:00 is the limit with my currently used strats. **Q:** What's with the split names? **A:** They are my personal best in-game times for each stage. The in game time can be seen on the score screen after every mission. **Q:** How are you killing the bosses so quick? **A:** There are several attacks in this game which will only give bosses very brief invincibility frames because they are meant to be used in combos. By using those attacks repeatedly without ever finishing the combo it's possible to avoid giving the bosses regular invincibility time. The most common method is using Zero's 3-hit combo while standing still, but holding the Shield Boomerang to reset the combo after the first hit every time. Other examples are the jumping spin slash with the saber and poking things with the Triple Rod. **Q:** Why are you so slow at killing the Golem / How do you level up your sabre so fast? **A:** This is the EXP glitch, with good positioning it's possible to get a ton of sabre experience by using extended jump slashes against the golem. Check this [guide](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBTqWhRh0dA) for details. **Q:** Why are you doing / caring about silly stuff? **A:** RNG Manipulation. **Q:** Have you played / Will you speedrun Zero 2, 3 or 4? ZX or ZXA? **A:** I have played the Zero and ZX Series. I may run ZX in the future. I consider speedruns of Z2, Z3, Z4 and ZXA to be unlikely.

I typically do not play MMZ with game sound active. The reason for this is that I don't want to. Instead I have a playlist of my favorite video game tracks and remixes, handled by Nightbot. Mods can skip songs with !skipsong, useful if Nightbot decides to play the same song twice in a row or some such silliness. The playlist is [here.](http://www.nightbot.tv/usersongs/flameberger) The current song can be seen with the command: !currentsong

**"You suck, Ein" ~ Rose** Riviera is a somewhat obscure RPG originally released for the Wonderswan Color. I play the Gameboy Advance version, it was also released for the PSP. **FAQ** **Q:** Who is your Waifu? **A:** [Tell me yours first :>](http://strawpoll.me/3027209) **Q:** What is your goal? **A:** 5:00:00. **Q:** How do the versions differ? **A:** From a non-speedrunning perspective, the WSC version has lower quality graphics and I believe no voice clips, the soundtrack is chiptunes-like. The PSP version has full voice acting (only slightly cringeworthy), higher resolution (but not actually updated) graphics, more CG images, new attack effects and an arranged version of the soundtrack that I don't like as much. From a speedrunning perspective I am only very familiar with the GBA version, but have started to look into the PSP. Overall it seems like it would be slower, the text seems to go by slower in general and there are added scenes. I've also heard that resetting takes awhile, which could be costly without good chest luck. The Japanese PSP version has Much EXP mode and the Japanese GBA version has a major glitch, each of these would be seperate categories that I might work on. **Q:** Much EXP Mode? **A:** In this mode characters start 1 experience point short of every level up. This would make it a lot easier to keep characters at a good level throughout the run. **Q:** Glitched J Mode? **A:** On the Japanese GBA version of the game, if a character dies while under the effect of a stat boosting item, like the power wrist, they will retain that stat bonus permanently. This allows for absurd STR and MAG levels if abused, up to 255. This glitch does not exist on the English GBA version, I am uncertain which if any other versions it does apply to. **Q:** How do you level up? **A:** When a character uses a weapon or item that they are compatible with enough times they will level up. This earns them an Overskill, a more powerful move that uses up the Overdrive meter, that they can use with that item, as well as various stats. Every level gives either Strength or Magic, I generally prefer Strength. **Q:** Which Characters do you use, why? **Ein:** Ein is required for every non-practice battle. He is an all-around pretty good character in the speedrun, especially useful for his Disaresta overskill with the weapon Einherjar. **Serene:** Serene brings the pain. She gains large amounts of strength per level and almost all of her best weapons, the scythes and claws, are conveniently available. By the end of the run, she will be leagues ahead of all my other party members. **Lina:** Pretty useful for the first half of the run, she suffers a lack of available strength levels later in the game and falls behind in usefulness. **Fia:** Terrible stats but several powerful weapons make her relevant at miscellaneous battles throughout the game. **Cierra:** Cierra probably has the greatest potential power of all the characters, but I think developing that power is too costly. Her best weapons are not conveniently available, nor are they especially useful for any other character. Many of the items she levels up with, she is not actually useful for attacking with, so she would be deadweight while earning those levels.
