2P

Q: How do you keep your remotes together? They look like they move in unison? A: I have them duct taped side by side as pictured below. The front and back is shown if you're interested in how to set it up. Q: What are the benefits to this? A: If I do a homing ground pound with Luigi and press A on the 2P wii remote, I get what's known as a 2P jump. This has lots of vertical speed but cuts almost all horizontal speed. I can also hold enemies in place, and in many cases like with chomps or boulders, they run into each other and burst into star bits. Q: Where is this useful? A: Lots of stars! I'm always working on new 2P strats to try to save time. Some of the most notable timesaves are Honeyhive 3, skipping the bee suit, Buoy Base 1 skip is significantly easier, as well as Loopdeeloop and Loopdeeswoop. Normally, you can't collect any starbits on the course because the game disables the 1P cursor, but the 2P cursor is enabled, which helps me get about 100 extra starbits on each of these levels. It also helps on Sling Pod in 120 stars when farming. It's important to note that the 2P pointer's radius for starbit collection is about twice as big than the 1P pointer, but when you hold A on 2P, the radius grows about 5 times bigger. When farming starbits, this speeds up the process immensely. Q: Are there any drawbacks to using 2P? A: The obvious difference is that the controller is much heavier when playing, which takes a bit to get used to, but I've had enough experience to where this doesn't bother me anymore. However, by nature of the heavy controller, when I do water levels where I have to spin for more than a couple of seconds, it is much more draining on the arms because the controller is double the mass, particularly Sea Slide 2. The nunchuk spins are inconsistent and must be frame perfect in order to save time, so this ends up being me shaking 2 wii remotes for about 50 seconds to a minute straight. Other than that, there are no in game drawbacks to 2P. Q: Do you use this for Super Mario Galaxy 2 as well? A: Yes, but it doesn't save as much time as in Galaxy 1. Notable timesaves: Spin Dig 2, Flash Black Comet, grabbing checkpoints, life mushrooms, etc.
