Ocarina of Time speedrunner

Thanks for checking out my stream. I speedrun The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64. I'm currently playing GSR, after which I'll play All Dungeons. After that, maybe All Medallions or 37 Water Temple Keys. Watch my [No Wrong Warp commentary](https://youtu.be/CVDYW9Sicjo) for a good introduction to OoT speedrunning. Contains an [in-depth GIM explanation](https://youtu.be/CVDYW9Sicjo?t=10m49s) and an [in-depth RBA explanation](https://youtu.be/CVDYW9Sicjo?t=22m47s). [Or check out this huge list I made of good commentated Zelda speedruns.](https://pastebin.com/cu11L2pb) [Or my live-commentated GSR run at BSG Marathon #29 in April 2019.](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/408657030)

I recommend watching these on Twitch itself, since you'll have chat replay.

I used to like Twitter, but I kinda hate it now. [PewDiePie](https://youtu.be/1n_cPIhag28) and [dunkey](https://youtu.be/Q5ysxb_nL7w) summarized my reasons very well. I'll still tweet every time I go live on Twitch: [@JelsterSpeedrun](https://twitter.com/JelsterSpeedrun)

If you want to be able to see and use [these 50 custom emotes in my chat](http://www.frankerfacez.com/channel/jelster64), install [FrankerFaceZ (or FFZ for short)](http://www.frankerfacez.com/). It's a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and a few other browsers. Not only do you get custom emotes for my stream (and a LOT of other speedrun streams as well), FFZ also adds a ton of new features to Twitch, such as a timer that tells you how long the stream has been live, the option to make Twitch dark, a box that shows the stream delay and much, much more. The amount of options you can mess with is insane. **"But I'm already using an extension called BetterTTV! Doesn't that do the same thing?"** No, FFZ is better. It has everything BTTV has to offer and more. I highly recommend uninstalling BTTV and installing FFZ as a replacement. **"But then I'll miss all my favorite BTTV emotes! Can't I just install both extensions alongside each other?"** I don't recommend it. FFZ's functionality is severely limited if you have BTTV running alongside it. If you still wanna have the BTTV emotes, you can install the [The FFZ Add-On Packā„¢](https://ffzap.com/), which adds the BTTV emotes while keeping all of FFZ's functionality intact. (This is required for seeing monkaS and POGGERS in my chat.) **"What about mobile? Does FFZ exist on that?"** No. There used to be an alternative Twitch app for Android called [StrimBagZ](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.lubot.strimbagz) in which you could watch Twitch streams with FFZ emotes in chat, but [since Twitch basically replaced the whole internal workings of their website in 2017, FFZ had to be fully rewritten](https://medium.com/@SirStendec/frankerfacez-and-slow-updates-b9d9df42d6b2) and StrimBagZ has not yet adapted to the new version of FFZ.

**Why are you dabbing?** I'm not. I'm just coughing/sneezing into my elbow because it's more hygienic than coughing/sneezing into my hand. I don't wanna sneeze into my hands and then infect everything I touch in my room. I've been doing this since my childhood, way before dabbing became a thing. (This is the only question I actually get asked frequently.) **Can I post a link?** Yes, go ahead. I'm not one of those nazi streamers that has nightbot timing out everyone that posts a YouTube video. **[I don't even know what Jelster means.](https://youtu.be/j8CHsUFsi1A?t=1m18s)** [Me neither, but Pac found a meaning](https://twitter.com/JelsterSpeedrun/status/970288055910391813) **Do you have an ESS adapter?** no

Learning to speedrun OoT can be challenging at first, especially if you don't know where to look. Here's a few resources that may help you learn the game a bit more easily: **[ZeldaSpeedruns](http://www.zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/)** Even though ZSR is pretty outdated at this point in time, it can be nice to just read about OoT's mechanics sometimes. **[DF's small optimizations doc](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZqMvFaXSbtipAKNQBcCryWFQGI1YwSCg/view)** This is a must-read if you're serious about improving. Small optimizations seperate the decent from the great, and there's probably at least one timesaver in here you didn't know about. **[No Wrong Warp commentary](https://youtu.be/CVDYW9Sicjo)** I worked on this for **months**. Explains a lot of things, including GIM and RBA. RBA especially can be really fun to mess around with, combined with [Finzenku's RBA tutorial](https://youtu.be/jeNCZbi-E1Y) and [Quickdraw bottle on B](http://pastebin.com/yVWrV3Xi). **[The Speedrun.com leaderboards](http://www.speedrun.com/oot)** The best place to compare times and find PBs to learn routes from. The [guides section](http://www.speedrun.com/oot/guides) and [resources section](https://www.speedrun.com/oot/resources) there are also worth visiting. Fortunately, it's fully replaced the [ZSR leaderboards](http://www.zeldaspeedruns.com/leaderboards/oot/any). **[No Wrong Warp resources](http://pastebin.com/grpHVjDF)** I made a pastebin full of links to videos that are important for No Wrong Warp, both for the GIM route and the Kakariko bottle route. This should make learning No Wrong Warp a lot easier. **[Any% segmented run](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n7gSPuIKCQB6p7HVNKRhNPaIxLcVLA7R3j1Ms28wJ7A/edit#gid=0)** Project I started with Torje and Baker to make a segmented run of any%, which is a few seconds faster than Torje's sum of bests. **[Haunted Wasteland beginner tutorial](https://pastebin.com/SeMCpiQR)** Wasteland can be hard to learn, so I hope this helps people. **[My opinion about "content creation" in speedrunning](https://youtu.be/ztch9FxQM9A)** If you're a speedrunner and you wanna hear me rant about how we should go about growing the speedrunning scene, I'd really appreciate it if you watched this. (Not really a resource but I didn't know where else to put this :p) By the way, if you want me to explain how to do a certain trick or whatever, just ask me while I'm streaming and I'll probably help you.

Whenever you see me play Ocarina of Time, I'm probably playing on a Wii. I capture footage with [Wii component cables](http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii-Component-Cable-Definition-Packaging/dp/B000M5ZIVY) that I run through my [Elgato Game Capture HD](http://www.amazon.com/Elgato-Capture-PlayStation-gameplay-1080p/dp/B00840353W). I capture the raw, unaltered footage using Elgato's own [Game Capture HD 1.42.24](http://files.elgato.com/thcdownloads/egc/GameCaptureSetup_1.42.24.msi) (I don't use anything 2.0+ because it handles component footage really poorly). I screencap the Game Capture HD window using [OBS Studio](https://obsproject.com/download) which I then use to stream to Twitch with. **Monitor:** [ASUS VX238H](http://a.co/iFu2lZr) **Webcam:** [Logitech HD Webcam C525](http://a.co/6QfPikM) **Controller:** [White Nintendo GameCube Controller](http://www.amazon.com/Official-Nintendo-Classic-Gamecube-Controller-Wii/dp/B0017KIBAI/) **Headset:** [Astro A40](http://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-A40-MixAmp-Pro/dp/B00NY5ZP6W/) (don't buy this thing, it's **not** worth the money) **Microphone:** [Audio-Technica AT2020](http://a.co/d/bsBYQC5) **Timer:** [LiveSplit](http://livesplit.org/downloads/) **Mouse:** [Logitech MX Master 2S](http://a.co/0TYPMQG) **Keyboard:** Razer BlackWidow **Speakers:** [Creative Gigaworks T40 Series II](http://www.amazon.com/Creative-GigaWorks-Multimedia-BasXPort-Technology/dp/B001S14DYO/) Oh, by the way, I don't necessarily recommend the Elgato for streaming either. It's a very uncooperative piece of equipment.
