Nanabi is a fictional [phoenix]() who as a navigator and secondary protagonist in the 1994 [Polystation]() game [Legend of the Sacred Fire]() (Japanese: 聖火の伝説 Hepburn: *Seika no Densetsu*). In game, Nanabi's role is to guard the titular Sacred Fire that sustains all life and to aid the legendary hero in times of strife. At the beginning of the game, Nanabi emerges from the Sacred Fire when the protaganist, [Ryuudai](), presents his heirloom sword to it. She is the first party member that the player unlocks as well as the first magic user available. Nanabi is a fan favorite character, however it was criticized at release about how she disappears midgame without any discernable cause.
