The world is stories. And watching all of it is the eye. The eye is not external, it is within all of us. It watches our stories, and how we act both when witnessed and when not. We are all the protaginists of our own story. That does not preclude you from being an antagonist in another story. The goal of the church is for each of you to see the story from the other viewpoint. To gain an understanding that you did not have before. An enlightenment. The eye is not real, it is a metaphor of your viewpoint, and a reminder to look through the eye that isn't yours. The eye strives to show you that if you are loved, to see yourself as they see you. As a being worthly of love. When you love another, you also love yourself. The eye strives to show you how your kind act makes an impression on another. So when you are kind to another, you are kind to yourself. The eye strives to show you what you look like when you are unkind. When you are unkind to another, you are unkind to yourself.
