Bisexual_Octopus

I am a bisexual octopus! We are all about bringing each other up here, in games and in real life. I want a community where everyone can feel safe, feel cared for and grow together. Let me know what you want to be called! I use he/him pronouns.

I play games to relax and have fun, but I also like to do my best and analyze situations. I believe in making a community where EVERYONE is welcome! We do our best to bring each other up here, both as players and as people! I use he/him/his pronouns.

Every single person deserves to feel safe. Gamer culture sometimes normalizes sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, mental-health stigma and ableism. Marginalized people often feel pushed out of gaming culture. We will NOT stand for that here. We all have biases that society has downloaded into us without our consent. If I say something that is stigmatizing or perform a micro-aggression, I hope that we can discuss it so that I can grow. Likewise, I hope my community will be open to such respectful conversations as well. Sometimes conversations are uncomfortable, but I encourage us to lean into the discomfort and come out a better and more inclusive person. If you make people feel unsafe and are unwilling to discuss it, my mod team may timeout or ban you so that everyone feels safe. While we keep a positive vibe, sometimes we need to have serious discussions so people can grow and our community can be welcoming for everyone. Bishop Desmond Tutu once said, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.” I encourage viewers to watch this short video on the impacts of microaggressions: https://youtu.be/hDd3bzA7450

I am bisexual and proud of it! I define bisexuality as being attracted to both masculine and feminine sides of the gender spectrum. Some people define it as being attracted to more than one gender, which also feels fitting to me. Bisexuality is sometimes defined as being attracted to both men and women. I find such a definition limiting and dismissive of gender queer or gender nonconforming individuals. Bisexuality is stigmatized as a lot of things in society. First of all, it is often incorrectly seen as a stepping stone to being gay. Second, bisexuals are often seen as “Straight” or “Gay/Lesbian” based on their partners. Which is odd- If a straight man is single, people don’t assume he isn’t straight. Bisexuality comes in many flavors. Many bisexuals are in monogamous relationships (even though society depicts us as cheating and greedy). Other bisexual individuals ares in open relationships or polyamorous relationships. Curious about these things? I’m up for talking about what I know! I also recommend this website for more information: https://biresource.org

Because they are awesome! All of my life I’ve appreciated octopuses. And yes, it is octopuses, not octopi! Octopi incorrectly assumes that “Octopus” comes from a Latin root instead of a Greek root. I love that octopuses are smart, flexible, majestic and overall amazing creatures. They can open jars, fit through tight spaces and even wave hello! I highly recommend the PBS documentary called Octopus: Making Contact. Also, octopuses in the wild are, in fact, bisexual!

Adult Link main here! I’ve been playing Smash casually for all of my life. As a kid, I enjoyed playing Smash 64 and Melee. I didn’t own a Wii or Wii U and was only able to play Brawl and Smash 4 when visiting my brother (or on the 3DS which I found very uncomfortable). When Smash Ultimate came out, I fell in love with it. It is my favorite game to pick up with friends and play. I began taking Ultimate a bit more seriously, though I only attended one tournament before COVID-19. COVID-19 has caused a lot of quarantines and isolation. To maintain a sense of connection, I played a LOT of smash arenas with my friends. I LOVE playing Adult Link! Come enjoy my favorite game of all time with me.
