Guidelines for The Black Pack Reserves

“Put me in coach,” the famous and resounding words of some of our most avid and wonderful followers. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. If you’re at all familiar with our Nightly Streaming sessions, you’ll quickly come to understand the format. It usually starts off with a few rounds of ranked flex matches and if time and energy allows, scrims will follow(see scrims section for rules and details). As a five-man team we love to play together as the core team which consists of Eric, Jake, Robert, Danielle and myself (Sunny). However, reality is, getting to play together EVERY single night and EVERY single game is just not realistic. As a result, we are constantly in search of a sub, sometimes even two, who can fill the missing spaces of the core who might be preoccupied. As we take our ranked matches very seriously, we are not able to just let any and all viewers sub in. To sub in for one of the Black Pack for ranked means you will have to pre-qualify and make the sub list. From this sub list, we will choose someone to sub in, whatever order we see fit, based on a few things, i.e., frequency, skill level, synergy and availability. To better understand the requirements of making The Black Pack Reserves(Sub List), I have compiled a list of guidelines to clarify and help our viewers and those interested in becoming a member of our sub list. See guidelines below. NO SOLO QUE MENTALITY - We are a team. We aim to play as a team. If you’re looking to jump into game, carry the hell out of the game, stand in the spotlight and and think you’re hot stuff, you might as well leave the stream now and unfollow. Honestly, we don’t like your kind and we don’t want your kind around here. Believe it or not, no matter what you think your precious meta says, this game, League of Legends, is about team play, especially OUR stream. I’m sorry, let me clarify, MY stream. If that is not something you can swallow and absorb, you know where the door is. Oh,...and please, DON’T come back, thank you. We’ve all seen it, we’ve all been there. There’s always that one guy who wants to carry the shit out of the game, and it’s no coincidence he’s also the most toxic player, the first to blame others for feeding, or telling you to “uninstall.” This is not a part of our stream nor will it ever be. Your goal must be to work together. Not just feed your position but feed ALL carry positions. Choosing Brand as a support (unless you can guarantee you’re not going after kills) is not going to get you on the Sub List. Choosing a support and building pure damage and stealing farm, will not get you on the Sub List. One of our stream goals is to build strength and community. Solo Que Mentality is the opposite of this mentality and quite honestly it’s the LOL downfall. How many people do you know that have literally stopped playing League due to the frustration of being flamed with negativity. This is NOT us nor will it ever be. If you think your play style fits us and you think you can be a team player, then stick around and show us in scrims, and you might just find yourself subbing for one of us on a rainy day. DO NOT GET TILTED - Win or loss. No exceptions. Keep a cool head and control your emotions. It’s not so much the tiltling that we can’t stand. It’s more so the results of it and how one decides to tilt. Tilting is usually followed by a lot negative attitude and defeated behavior leading to actions like forfeiting. We don’t FF. Ever. No matter how far the loss, or how bad the ass beating, we play every game out and try till the end to make a comeback. Keep a cool and calm head and don’t let your emotions get the best of you. If you think you’ll be tilting out of control, then don’t even think about subbing for us. Losses will happen, wins too, in either case, no need for negative attitudes here, the world has enough of that. NO ENEMY TEAM BASHING, TAUNTING OR TEASING - Be courteous, kind, and bring positivity to the game. The last thing we want is bullying, hurting or teasing the enemy team. It’s one thing if the opposing team throws the first punch, but even then without my explicit permission, don’t attempt to finish the war. Also note that in game, you’ll hear the entire Black Pack swearing up and down at the enemy team. Keep in mind, THEY CAN’T HEAR US. So teasing, playing, biting, and ripping the enemy is just fine, as long as you’re NOT directly or deliberately trying to hurt the opposing team. Venting, humor and having fun is allowed, just not at the expense of another’s personal feelings and emotions. This goes for both during the game and after, referring specifically to the moment when the recently played team comes into twitch chat to say hi. PAY ATTENTION TO OUR PLAYS, MIRROR, MIMIC AND FOLLOW - They key word here should really just be mindfulness. Pay attention to what we are doing as team, keep your synergy high and try to stay on the same page. Ask questions, ask our thoughts, be curious, assertive, make suggestions, but don’t just steam roll and follow your own agenda. If you think Baron is the right call, then voice your opinion, but if we disagree, don’t scream and bitch like a little child. Simply talk it out and explain your point of view. Don’t be passive aggressive. We are humans and blessed with the ability to communicate. If you happen to be in the percentile of people who don’t communicate well then here’s the perfect opportunity to build that skill. In scrims, do whatever you like. Be teemo and just stand in that stupid bush, we don’t care. In our ranked matches though, troll like that and find yourself on the permanent ban list. These are the basic guidelines I can give you now. As we evolve and grow, so will these guidelines. Pay attention, listen carefully, and notice what’s happening around you in this stream. We are a stream like no other and guarantee you’ll come to like and love this place. We all do and so do our our supporters. One of our dreams is to get each and every viewer on the Sub List. However, our pre-requisites may make that a little difficult. As far away as the dream may be, know it’s what we shoot for. We are not looking to build an exclusive list but rather, looking to build an exclusive family.

The Black Pack and myself have been playing League for just about 8 months now. From pretty much the first click, we were hooked. I mean, what’s not to love? League is a great game and especially when played with friends, it makes for the ultimate multiplayer past time. From it's mini-game like experience in farming minions to it’s full on strategic tower taking plays, and the all out 5 on 5 team fights make it truly multi-faceted. So in all this fun and fantastic, where is the negative? Without even looking deeply, League fails where pretty much every online multiplayer fails. The LOL multiplayer community is amongst the most toxic of toxic. Regardless whether it’s your own teammate or a member of the opposing team, the kind of negativity one encounters playing league is like that of no other in my personal experience. Keep in mind that’s coming from me who is a very experienced Call of Duty, Gears of War, multiplayer console gamer. Nearly impossible to go more than a single game without either being witness or falling victim to, some kind of verbal harassment, assault or even racial slurring, we were quickly coming to terms with the level of toxicity in what we otherwise thought was an amazing game. We were confronted with the constant thought of how something so great and wonderful could be riddled with such a dark and dreadful disease. We watched day in and day out as both new and old users would swear they would never play the game again due to toxic behavior from other players. We would observes users and even our own friends take 3 to 6 months breaks simply because they did not want the kind of negative feelings associated with playing the game anymore. Riot obviously is aware of this problem and they are actually quite proactive in trying to eradicate this disease from their game and servers. The report system DOES work and the punishing effects of their account bans make a difference in cleaning up the community. Loving the game so much though, we started to consider more seriously what we could do as individuals, more importantly, what The Black Pack could do to help put a stop to the poison in our playing. This is where the concept behind “Knights of The Black Pack” was born. Rather than focusing on shutting down those who were toxic and negative, foulmouthed or just plain rude, we decided we would flip the focus on those who were the exact opposite. Together we created a recognize and reward system that we could implement on a regular basis. A very simple “Pay it Forward”, altruistic kind of attitude if you will. Simply put, anytime we spot a member of the community stepping up and assisting another, perhaps offering to switch roles, lanes, to alleviate stress, or maybe protecting another member from receiving hate messages, defending another player who might be getting harassed, sticking up for them, or assisting in diffusing a situation or just being plain ol’ cool, we will do whatever we can to recognize them both in game and in stream, reward them with a mystery skin and publicly dub them an honorary “Knight of The Black Pack,” hence the phrase, "You’ve just been Knighted.” In this quest and action we hope so desperately to promote people in the League community to remain kind and calm, walk away from the tilt and stay level headed. While it may only be one person at a time, it’s better than doing nothing at all. I myself can not sit here silently anymore while I watch certain baffoons take a bat to my favorite video game. As a viewer and follower of our channel, we urge you to do the same. You maybe don’t have to spend your hard earned money and gift them a mystery skin, but take a moment to recognize them with some kind words and gratitude. A little can go a long way. We challenge you to go even a step further. Catch your interaction in a video clip and we’ll highlight you in our stream, replay your clip and possibly even reward YOU with something a little awesome. It’s simple. Treat other as you would like to be treated. "Do unto others as you would have done unto you.” Let’s make a change in this place my brothers and sisters. We can make this place a better one. Join us and we shall prevail.
