Nuyorican....well the simplest way to put it is this, I'm a Puerto Rican from NY. More specifically the Bronx. But Newyorican has way deeper roots that just saying what I am and where I'm from. It's an attitude, it's what keeps my head help up high because I'm proud of my heritage. There was a set on Def Poetry Jam from Lemon and Flaco called Boriquas...that pretty much embodies some of the emotion behind my name. Initially I was Lady_crochet, then I went to nuyorican lady crochet.... I knew I needed to shorten it but Nuyorican wasn't gonna go anywhere so I finally settled on the name I have now. Lady was important to me as well because that is a woman who has respect, morals, goals and it described me as a person in general. Yes, I can be rough around the edges but if you listen in between the lines of my sailor speak you'll almost always get a lesson to leave with. Not to mention it usually takes people a while to be able to say it, so by the time they figure it out, it sticks and now you can't forget me lol.
