**For anyone that's been going through hard times:** A lot of times, mental health is looked at as weakness. It may come from birth and/or from the environment that you were raised in. It may even come from being discriminated or oppressed. We tell ourselves, "im not crazy. i dont need medications. i dont need a psychiatrist or a doctor." But everybody is medicating and self-medicating. People drink, smoke, do some drugs, overeat, etc to cope with shit going on in their lives. I've had issues with addiction, depression, anxiety, the list goes on. Mental health is so stigmatized in our society because we dont want to be labeled as unstable or crazy that we just try to self-medicate and patch these wounds up without understanding the underlying issues. I've been at a point where I really didn't want to live anymore. There was a point where I legitimately wanted to give up on my own life. I was feeling trapped. I felt like I had no purpose. I felt alone. I didn't want to be awake anymore. **My point is that what everyone wants in the end is to be truly happy. I still struggle, but I'm in a better place. Over 40,000 people commit suicide a year in the US alone.
