My name is Shane Cox. I got the name Spud in New Orleans, where I went to play after graduating high school in Idaho. Trombone was the instrument I played in band class growing up, but once I started playing shows (16 years old), I started trying out the trumpet. I skipped college and pursued professional playing immediately in New Orleans and elsewhere, and haven't looked back. After moving to California I picked up sousaphone, and it immediately called to me. I was inspired to start "Funky Spuds", which is a funk band I'm the sousaphone player for, in lieu of a bass player. I now live in Minneapolis. I picked up the looper at the start of the pandemic and have been streaming on Twitch since the start of 2021.
